About this pattern

Classic fair isle mittens in two colors, with a snowflake‑style motif on the back of the hand and a little diamond pattern on the palm and thumb. They're worked in continuous rounds of split single crochet, so the colorwork looks almost knit, with a chained gap left for the thumb and a ribbed cuff added last. One adult size in fingering weight yarn.

I have never worked on a fair isle style pair of mittens before so it took me a couple of tries to get it right but as I am almost done with the left one, it has a really lovely pattern.

Well written instructions for a first-timer in mittens! I changed the chart to make a pattern of my own, worked out great! Highly recommend

First time doing any kind of colour-work crochet and I've loved this. The pattern is clear, with both written instructions and a chart - for me, the former was most helpful for the body of the mitten and the latter for the (smaller) thumb. I'm so happy with the way they've turned out. The waistcoat stitch creates quite a thick fabric, which makes the finished mittens really warm and cosy.

Great pattern. Waistcoat stitch is tricky to get the hang of but once it clicks it creates a truly beautiful fabric and the pattern is so cute! Note, I used knit picks Peruvian highland superwash fingering instead as I think it's more "mitteny" and needed a 3.25 mm hook because of the looser tension needed for the stitch in order to get close to the gauge size. Nice little challenge and great reward!

Well-written pattern, definitely not for beginners! I appreciate the video posted to go along with the mittens, but I wish it were for these particular mittens. I also would have loved the option to do different sizes. I wanted a more tailored size for just a small woman's hand and not one that fits both men and women! Overall, it was a great pattern, and it was fun to learn a new stitch as well!

The pattern is great. But loosen your tension or else it will become super tight.
