It's worked in the granny stitch with a four row colorwork repeat. There are seventeen sizes, ranging all the way from a little lovey to a California king, so you can make one for a new baby or cover a whole bed.

Awesome pattern! I made for a friend and she absolutely loved it. It was a lot of coloring changing (weaving ends) but I’m excited to make again using one solid and a color changing yarn.
GREAT pattern! Very well written pattern that gives all the details you could possibly want. Also will say, this pattern is now my favorite way to start a row to keep the edges straight! I have NEVER had such straight edges on any of the blankets I’ve ever done and I’m attributing it to the stacked single crochet in this pattern!
